Construction Safety Manager (full time)

We are looking for people who are passionate about construction and safety/ compliance. The Safety Manager will be responsible for the field safety program, safety compliance, environmental compliance, and employee engagement in support of a safety conscious work environment. Responsibilities include:

ï‚· Serve as designated safety representative, coordinating and implementing all areas of the Safety Program. Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings.

ï‚· Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all personnel in complying with safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

ï‚· Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort.

 Support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal and state law.

ï‚· Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits.

ï‚· Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts.

ï‚· Facilitate incident investigation process. Including near misses, unsafe acts or unsafe conditions. ï‚· Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems.

ï‚· Enter Safety Incident Information in Metrics database in a timely manner.

ï‚· Train and assist others (Ops Managers, Safety Team Members, etc) to complete their Safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc).

ï‚· Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting safety management and ensures that company policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance

ï‚· Keeps OSHA 300 log in order and up to date as well as perform required posting

ï‚· Maintains relationships with outside consultants, vendors, employment agencies, professional associations and Federal and State government agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency ï‚· Accurate determination and reporting of Lost Time Incident Rates and Recordable Rates and the ability to mitigate future risk to continuously reduce rates.

ï‚· Root cause analysis

ï‚· Ability to drive a safety culture that is world class by increasing employee engagement, accountability and programs.

ï‚· Lead safety related training classes and programs.

ï‚· Reviews and takes measures to eliminate ergonomic issues.

Requirements:

ï‚· Valid Driver's License with a Clean MVR for at least the past 3 years

ï‚· High School diploma or equivalent

 Two to Four years’ experience handling the responsibilities outlined above.  Experience leading and managing a team

ï‚· Proficiency in Microsoft Office

ï‚· Knowledge of OSHA regulations

ï‚· Experienced in emergency response and be able to maintain current First aid and CPR certificates ï‚· Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills

ï‚· Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analysis

ï‚· Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving personnel issues

Preferred Skills:

ï‚· Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a safety related field

 Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management preferred

ï‚· 3 to 5+ years of safety experience or combination of education/multiple years experience in construction, with a demonstrated knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques ï‚· Certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or equivalent credential.

ï‚· Certified OSHA Instructor 10 & 30 hour classes (desired)
